Love Is Appreciation

“If you love a flower, don’t pick it up. Because if you pick it up it dies and it ceases to be what you love. So if you love a flower, let it be. Love is not about possession. Love is about appreciation.” - Osho

This is so very beautiful, and it's how I feel as well. This is why I don't buy flowers or animals anymore. Instead, I go outside to visit and appreciate them. They are their own beings, so who am I to make a decision for them? This goes for people as well. It's not selfish to live the way you want to live, but it is selfish to expect others to live the way that you desire. Let them be, we all have our own paths to walk.

The Land of Arra

The beautiful Land of Arra.

Caia, a young Tihan lady with a strong personality.

Ancient Queen Edell, the revered ruler of the Adrillin people.

Crear, monstrosities that feed mostly on sea creatures.

These concepts are from a long lost story that I found in my archives. I wanted to share, but I'm not going to develop them further... At least not for the time being. Who knows what time will tell.

Look of the Month :: Summer 2015 :: July

This month is all about change, specifically finding simplicity in all matters, and altering them. One step at a time we find our way through, and realize that it was all too easy after all. I just completed my summer solstice water fast, along with a week long raw-food cleanse (I was a little late to honor it because of my schedule), and I feel like I'm my best self yet.

Purging, minimalism, nomadic madness, and the insatiable urge to become more with less has been a current obsession of mine. I respect myself more than ever before, and I feel like I finally know who I am again. It truly is fascinating how one eats raw foods to heal the body, but the mind inevitably returns to its pure form as well.

This digital face chart honors that: The beauty of less, and of expression through less. It's a simple look, low maintenance, and easy to travel with. Move lightly and freely this season, and remember, always trust in your natural self. Find your strength and well being from within.

The current look is:

Color trends for this month:
Eggshell, sand, chocolate brown, ivory, and tarnished gold

Current motivation for the look:
Unexplored beaches, bohemian nights, and clarity of the mind

Everything You Need to Know About Foods

I stumbled across these videos recently when I was doing a raw-food cleanse, and felt that I needed to share them. It sure makes a lot of sense to me, and they've made me more curious about Dr. Morse's work.

The 'Me-Time' Tag

Here's a nice tag from Liza. Sounds good to me!

11 Questions:
1: What do you watch or read during me-time?
I love watching documentaries/TED Talks and reading nonfiction. Really anything that stimulates the mind and helps me learn. YouTube is great too, and my favorites are Tony Robbins, Bob Proctor, Jonathan Fields, and Markus Rothkranz, among others.

2: What do you wear during me-time?
Pajamas! I wear what I like to call my 'around-the-house clothes'. This is usually yoga pants, loose cotton long-shelve shirts, and hoodies.

3: What are your me-time beauty products?
Well, if I decide to take a bath, it would be my favorite essential oils (like vanilla, rosemary, and white rose) and Epsom salt. Or, if instead I take a shower, it would be my Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Pure Castile Soap and Peppermint Shaving Soap. Coconut and jojoba oils are always a luxurious way to moisturize as well.

4: Current favorite nail polish?
None! I'm enjoying my natural nails right now. I recently sold and gave most all of my nail polish away. So I only have a tiny collection. I figured that since I hadn't used them in so long I shouldn't let them sit in my closet. It's always best to pass things along.

5: What do you eat/drink during me-time?
That depends on what time it is. I make sure to eat my last meal before 6pm, and I ideally like to wind down the day with a salad or potatoes. As far as drinks, I love water and herbal teas.

6: Current favorite candle?
I currently love Aloha Bay's palm wax tea light candles. Both the candles and the company are awesome! They're organic, fair trade, and eco friendly.

7: Do you ever have outdoor me-time?
Oh, but of course. I spend time out on the balcony, walk to the nearest park, watch the animals run about, go forage a bit for wild food, frolic about with Aaron, and all sorts of other things.

8: Would you ever go see a movie alone?
Yes, I would. I never have though, and I think that I would never have to. Movies are always fun to see with other people, but it's not an absolute must. However, that being said, Aaron and I are pretty inseparable.

9: Favorite online shop?
I've purchased things off of Amazon before, but I actually don't like to shop online. I've always found it to be really important to see an item first hand. I rarely buy things (other than food) anyway, so it's always fun to go out when the time comes.

10: Favorite me-time music?
I don't listen to a lot of music when I'm focused on the present moment. If I'm not having amazing conversations with Aaron, then I'm usually focused inward on my thoughts and feelings. Music tends to distract me from that, even the softest melodies.

11: Anything to add? What else do you do during me-time?
The sky's the limit! Meditating, fasting, learning, creating, talking, exploring, playing, loving, etc. are all things that I enjoy during my me-time.

I don't know about you, but some 'me-time' sounds
pretty good right about now. Cheers to that!

10 Lessons for a Successful Life

"Do not give up, the beginning is always the hardest." - Fortune Cookie

Some of us succeed at life, some of us fail, and many of us muddle through. To succeed, one must apply the lessons one learns and practice them each day.

10 Lessons for a Successful Life

Lesson 1: There Are No Secrets to Success.
The ingredients for success and failure are evident all around us. Success is a way of living; it is an attitude expressed in how we live our lives.

Lesson 2: Success Calls for Massive Action.
Achievement in anything takes a great deal of ongoing commitment, self-discipline, and work. It can only be achieved by action.

Lesson 3: Your Success Is Your Responsibility.
Success, one's own happiness, and a sense of fulfillment come solely from within. One can only make these happen for themselves.

Lesson 4: To Succeed You Must Sometimes Fail.
We all falter at some point, and periodic failure is a fact of life. One cannot achieve success without it. Learn from it, and continue on.

Lesson 5: Some People Will Try to Prevent Your Success.
Even if one doesn't intentionally try to sabotage their own achievement, there are those who are willing to do it for them. Recognize this, and create a support system that inspires to the fullest.

Lesson 6: Ongoing Victimization Requires Your Permission and Cooperation.
To be continually victimized by anyone or anything, past or present, requires one's consent. Speak up about wants, desires, expectations, and needs.

Lesson 7: Life Is Not Fair.
It never has been, and never will be. Those who succeed in life develop the courage and maturity to face this truth. There is peace to be found within it.

Lesson 8: Positive Relationships with Others Is a Necessity.
"No man is an island, entire of itself." Humans are social beings who need emotional support from each other. Without it, happiness and fulfillment cannot exist.

Lesson 9: Use Your Time Effectively.
Time waits for no one, it is an finite resource, and everyone receives 24 hours in their day. However, the most successful in life are the people skilled in time management.

Lesson 10: To Succeed, You Must Give More Than is Required.
Make a pact to do more than is merely mandatory. Continue to dream big, but stay focused on the current steppingstone. One day it will manifest.

I wish you all well with your goals and aspirations. Make it happen.

Iced Vanilla Loquat Tea Recipe

The perfect treat for a hot summer's day.

I love this beautiful tea and it's so easy to make, provided one has dried loquat leaves of course (I was lucky to find a tree to harvest). It's such a delicious golden tea that complements the creamy vanilla wonderfully.

~~Makes 4-5 servings~~
(All ingredients are preferably organic or found in nature)
Loquat leaf tea (black tea can be substituted)
A dash of vanilla extract
Start by placing 5 large, dried loquat leaves in a small saucepan
Fill the saucepan with water, cover with a lid, and bring water to a boil
Turn the heat down and let the leaves simmer for 15 minutes
After tea concentrate is made, let it cool down for an hour or two in the refrigerator
Add ice, a dash of vanilla, and as much of the tea concentrate as desired to each glass
Fill glasses with cold water

That's it! This refreshing drink only takes a few hours to make, and most of the time is spent chilling the tea. Enjoy it over the summer holidays, during picnics, or down by the beach.

Have a happy summer.
