Sitting Nude

Soooo.... I have not done a figure drawing/painting in a long time and I thought that I could update my portfolio to reflect current skills.
This is a painting I did in Photoshop, from reference, using a grid. About 12-14 hours went into it, which is about a 1/3 of the time spent on a painting like my "Anthony" piece. I wanted this one to be a bit more painterly, so I did not noodle as much.

I also included steps and the brush I used to create the whole painting.

Hi Claudia. I was surfing the web when I came across your website and blog. I like this image you painted it's really good. Where did you get the image you painted this from? I'm always on the look out for great reference photos. One such site I tend to get them is: http://www.characterdesigns.com/ Its a great site but, I'd like to have more variety in the poses of the models I draw and paint. Also, if you could direct me to a site with male artistic nude photos for artists I'd really appreciate it. Thank you so very much in advance for your time and help.

Hey Cyber Six,

The photo reference was from this really cool book that you can spin the models around in quicktime movies, called Virtul Pose.

Here is the link:

http://www.virtualpose.net/preview.html

They have male models as well but for the most part they focus on the female form.

Thanks for the link you sent. I did not know about it and the site looks like it is very useful.

Have you ever heard of 3D SK

http://www.3d.sk/

and http://www.deviantart.com/

Both of theses sites you can find a lot of stock photography for awesome poses, costumes and textures.

Hope that helps!
Happy Painting,
~Claudia
